Toyota Yaris was named Car of the Year in 2021. Yaris won the ceremony at the Palexpo exhibition center in Geneva on the eve of the Geneva Motor Show. For the second time in a row, the show has been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Available only in the form of a petrol and electric hybrid car, the Yaris Supermini scored 266 points in the face of the challenges of the other six cars listed.
The Fiat 500 Electric came in second with 240 points, though the Cupra Formentor Crossover came in third with 239 points. The Volkswagen ID 3 (224 points), the Skoda Octavia (199 points), the Land Rover Defender (164 points) and the Citroën C4 (143 points) finished the list of seven shortlisted vehicles. This is the second time a Yaris has won the award: the first generation Yaris was named Car of the day in 2000.
The Executive Vice head of Toyota Europe, Matt Harison, said, “It is a cool reputation for Toyota and I would like to express gratitude the judges for their awareness and appreciation.
