Renault Teases Austral, Successor Of Kadjar

Author: |

Renault revealed a month ago that the Austral will be the successor of the Kadjar. The Austral is expected to hit the market later this year, and now the business is showing us more of the future SUV, which is set to arrive in 2022.

The CMF-CD3 platform underpins the Renault Austral, which is identical to that of the Nissan Qashqai.

The new teaser photographs for the Austral come with the announcement that the replacement for the Kadjar would not be offered with diesel engines. The car will be offered with a gas-hybrid engine lineup that includes fresh new possibilities, according to Renault.

Better soundproofing, additional ADAS technologies, and a comfort-oriented suspension configuration will all be part of the new architecture. A new 1.2-liter TCe engine with 48V mild-hybrid tech and an enhanced 1.3-liter 12-volt mild-hybrid hybrid will likely account for the majority of sales. However, a completely electric version is rumored to be in the works.

According to Renault, the new engines would emit less CO2 and have a peak output of up to 200 horsepower. However, no more information about the engines or gearboxes is known at this time.

The Austral will be somewhat longer than the model it will replace, as seen by these new teaser images. The new SUV also appears to be somewhat broader, though its external measurements are unknown at this time.

On both ends of the Austral are slender LED lighting units that use Renault's current design language.

Renault has already begun putting the Austral through its paces on public roads. A fleet of 100 camouflaged prototypes with 900 drivers will travel 600,000 kilometers on French, Spanish, German, and Romanian roads, as well as 1,400,000 kilometers on the track.
