Mitsubishi L200 And Triton Pickup Trucks Previewed By The XRT Concept

The Triton/L200 pickup's future generation is closely previewed by the Mitsubishi XRT Concept. The design resembles an off-road-equipped Triton prototype that has been camouflaged. The final split headlight design appears to be concealed by the camouflage, while the taillights have a full black tint that blends in with the body wrap. The XRT Concept shows an off-road vehicle with a double cab body design, a snorkel, two spare tires in the bed, the Ralliart logo, and substantial off-road tires.

The updated midsize truck will be propelled by a "next-generation diesel" engine, which was first revealed earlier this month in a revised product roadmap until 2028. It is anticipated that some type of electrification will occur, potentially a plug-in hybrid powertrain to comply with ever-stricter emissions rules.

The next-generation Mitsubishi Triton and Nissan Navara both have the same underpinnings, and the greenhouse has a striking resemblance to both. Mitsubishi did not provide us with the vehicle's specifications, but we anticipate that the Triton will be built on a modified version of the Navara's ladder-frame chassis and have a turbodiesel drivetrain. The carmaker also hinted at a fully electric truck, however, it's probable that this will be a distinct model.

The next L200/Triton will be on display at the Asia Cross Country Rally in 2023, where Team Mitsubishi Ralliart intends to compete with a prototype. For the fiscal year 2023, Thailand will be the first country to sell the production-ready model, with ASEAN, Oceania, and other areas to follow soon after.
