Mercedes Unveils Upgraded EQS: What's New In The 2025 Model?

Author: |

Mercedes has introduced the updated EQS, set to make its debut at Auto China. Drawing inspiration from the S-Class, the alterations to this model are evolutionary rather than revolutionary. The flagship electric sedan now boasts a standard AMG Line front bumper, adding a sporty touch. However, the most significant change lies in its revamped grille, featuring chrome slats seamlessly integrated to mirror the design of the S-Class. Reinforcing its distinction, a new hood ornament emphasizes that the EQS is not merely a commonplace vehicle but a quintessential Mercedes.

Under the hood, the EQS boasts a new battery with a usable capacity of 118 kWh, an increase from the previous 108.4 kWh. Paired with new braking software allowing for enhanced energy recuperation, the 2025 EQS boasts an extended range. While specific EPA figures were not disclosed, the WLTP range is reported to increase by up to 82 km. Moreover, European models with all-wheel drive now offer an increased towing capacity of 1,700 kg, a significant improvement from the previous limit of 750 kg.

Inside, the 2025 EQS showcases additional chrome detailing and improved rear seats with an additional 5 mm of foam padding. Noteworthy enhancements include rear seats with adjustable backrests, operable from 27 to 36 degrees at the push of a button. Moreover, comfort pillows now feature contrasting stitching and Nappa leather piping.

For those seeking unparalleled rear-seat luxury, the Pinnacle trim offers an Executive Interior Package. This includes a front passenger seat capable of tipping forward to extend legroom in the second row. Furthermore, rear passengers can enjoy a reclining backrest of up to 38 degrees, alongside rapid heating for the buttocks, neck, and shoulders. Additionally, pneumatic adjustment for the rear seats and illuminated trim on the front seatbacks are included in this package.

The Euro-spec EQS closely resembles its American counterpart, with added features such as the Automatic Lane Change function and a new special edition. This variant includes 21-inch AMG wheels and an Executive package with slight variations in Europe. Notable elements comprise two-tone Nappa leather upholstery, a microfiber headliner, rose gold accents, and anthracite open-pore wood trim.
