TOM’s Racing, a brand renowned for enhancing some of Japan’s most celebrated sports cars, is also quite adept when it comes to tuning SUVs and off-roaders. Their latest venture shines a spotlight on the newest Toyota Land Cruiser Prado — known internally as the "250" series — transforming it into an eye-catching Urban Off-Roader that's hard to ignore.

First, a little background on the vehicle itself. The Toyota Land Cruiser has always been synonymous with exceptional off-road prowess, engineered to conquer the harshest terrains. However, it's no secret that many Land Cruisers are more often found on smooth city streets than rugged trails. Recognizing this reality, TOM’s Racing set out to refine the Prado’s image, giving it a bold new look that’s perfect for urban landscapes without entirely abandoning its adventurous roots.

At the core of the modifications is a newly designed front bumper. This fresh piece delivers a much more aggressive appearance compared to the standard model. However, it extends slightly lower, which could impact the approach angle — something hardcore off-roaders might notice but casual city drivers likely won’t mind. After all, this version of the Prado is clearly geared more toward making a statement on asphalt rather than crawling over rocks.

The visual enhancements don’t stop at the front bumper. TOM’s Racing has also introduced new side steps and prominent fender flares, both at the front and rear. These additions house wider, sportier 20-inch aftermarket wheels wrapped in beefy tires, giving the Prado an even more muscular stance.

These upgrades cater to those who want a touch of personalization and a slight performance edge. It's important to note, however, that these specialized parts are mainly available within Japan, and international availability seems unlikely at this stage.

Meanwhile, for Prado owners seeking a more understated upgrade path, Toyota’s own accessory division, Modellista, offers an alternative. Modellista’s package takes a more refined approach, offering upgrades like a redesigned front bumper guard, subtle rear bumper accents, flared fenders, side moldings, a rear bumper step guard, 20-inch alloy wheels, and a distinct roof spoiler.

<img class=

Whether buyers opt for TOM’s aggressive urban reimagining or Modellista’s tasteful refinement, the 250-series Land Cruiser Prado now offers a variety of ways to stand out from the crowd while retaining its legendary durability.
