Lincoln Unveils The New 2022 Zephyr Sedan In China

The Zephyr nameplate was trademarked by Lincoln in 2016, and the return of the nameplate to the Lincoln lineup sparked various suspicions. Some speculated that the Zephyr moniker would be given to a crossover, while others speculated that it would be given to the MKZ's successor.

The Zephyr, as Lincoln points out, will be built in China for the Chinese market. It'll be available for purchase in the first quarter of 2022.

The Lincoln Zephyr, the American brand's first sedan built in China, was unveiled at Auto Guangzhou. It was shown today at the Guangzhou Auto Show in 2021, and it has the automaker's signature full-width lightbar integrated into the front fascia.

The Zephyr Sedan also has a wheelbase of more than 2,900mm, putting it between the Chrysler 300 and the Ford Fusion.

In terms of technology, the Zephyr has the new phase-4 SYNC+ system, which is only available to Chinese buyers. Over-the-air upgrades are available for the system as well as the car. The carmaker claims that a 12.3-inch digital cluster with a 27-inch touch screen has been designed to meet the needs of Gen Z customers up front.

The Lincoln Co-Pilot 360 2.0 and the Lincoln ActiveGlide are SAE Level 2 assistance systems that will be available to drivers.

The Lincoln is powered by a 2.0-liter gas engine that may produce up to 235 horsepower in other, similar vehicles. It has an eight-speed gearbox attached to it. Unfortunately, Lincoln has not provided performance specifications, but once the first cars arrive in China, we should hear more about the all-new Zephyr.

Despite the fact that the 2022 Lincoln Zephyr was co-designed by the company's teams in California and China, there is no indication on availability in the United States.

The Zephyr will be on sale solely in China in the first quarter of 2022, according to Lincoln. No price information has been released.
