Lexus Launches Exclusive LC500 Pinnacle Edition in Japan

Shortly after unveiling the 2026 model year update for the Lexus LC in North America, Lexus has introduced some subtle yet significant changes to the Japanese-market version of this flagship coupe and convertible. The standout addition is the new LC500 Pinnacle Edition, which may well be the final special edition of the current LC generation, potentially signaling the end of an era for the iconic luxury coupe.

2025 Lexus LC500

The Lexus LC originally debuted as a concept in 2012 and entered production in 2016, marking nearly a decade of the model’s presence on the road. Now, nearly ten years later, Lexus has launched the Japan-exclusive Pinnacle Edition, a version the brand describes as the “summit” of the LC lineup. This choice of wording hints that the Pinnacle Edition could be a farewell tribute to the model, although Lexus has not officially confirmed any plans for discontinuation or the arrival of a successor.

Visually, the Pinnacle Edition shares many design cues with the U.S.-spec Inspiration Series, featuring aggressive front bumper canards, black trim accents, and a fixed rear wing made from carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic. Unlike the Inspiration Series, however, the wing—which first appeared on the Aviation special edition back in 2020—is now available on both the coupe and convertible variants in the Pinnacle Edition.

The two body styles each sport exclusive paint options: the coupe features a unique Oborogin color finished with a matte clear coat, while the convertible is dressed in Neutrino Gray with a contrasting Brown Silver soft top. Both versions ride on 21-inch forged alloy wheels with a multi-spoke design and a distinctive black sputtering finish that adds a subtle yet striking character.

Inside, the coupe boasts a sophisticated two-tone black and white interior theme, whereas the convertible leans into a more luxurious feel with saddle tan and white upholstery. Special touches abound, including embroidered dashboard details, an “LC Limited Edition” plaque on the center console, and carbon fiber scuff plates, enhancing the exclusivity of this Pinnacle Edition.

Powering the Pinnacle Edition is the familiar naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 engine, delivering a robust 471 horsepower and 540 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission that channels power to the rear wheels. The package also includes a specially tuned limited-slip differential, designed to refine handling and driving dynamics.

Chassis improvements include a rear aluminum hollow suspension member for the coupe, aimed at boosting rigidity and grip. Suspension tuning is tailored for each variant—the coupe prioritizes sharper, more responsive handling, while the convertible is calibrated for a smoother, more comfortable ride.

Priced around $121,500, the LC500 Pinnacle Edition will be limited to just 100 units per body style and sold exclusively in Japan. Half of these units will be allocated through a lottery system, with applications accepted between July 24 and August 7 and winners notified by August 18.

Aside from the Pinnacle Edition, the Japanese LC lineup continues to offer the LC500h hybrid variant with its 3.5-liter V6 alongside the traditional 5.0-liter V8 LC500. Notably, the hybrid model is no longer available in the U.S. as of 2026. While no exterior or interior design updates have been made to the standard Japanese trims, all versions now feature a new door sticker designed to enhance the perceived rigidity of the vehicle. The refreshed LC lineup will be available in Japan starting August 4, with pricing ranging from approximately $96,200 to $101,900 for the LC500, and between $99,300 and $105,000 for the LC500h.
