The cofango is shaped to push the airflow on top of the front fenders, which incorporate louvers to maximize airflow exiting from the wheelhouse, reducing pressure inside and increasing the front downforce. The side profile of the cofango directs airflow around the front wheels, reducing drag.
Also, NACA air intake is used for the rear fenders. This feature acts like an engine air intake which reduces static pressure losses to about 30 %. Don’t forget the Shark fin, Adjustable rear wing, and even the Brake cooling.
This car has the best level of downforce in its class. The airflow efficiency is 37% better and more 53% downforce for STO.
More than 75% of Lamborghini Huracán STO is made of carbon fiber. For the rear fenders the ‘sandwich’ technique is used. This type of technology is usually used in aerospace industry, so the car is much lighter and rigid enough and also 25% less carbon fiber was used. It weighs just 1,339 kg.
