Italdesign has unveiled an intriguing new concept known as the Quintessenza at the Beijing Auto Show. This vehicle is presented as the ultimate fusion of human and natural elements, drawing upon Italdesign's rich heritage spanning over 50 years.
At the core of the Quintessenza concept lies a lightweight aluminum framework housing a substantial 150 kWh battery pack, operating on an 800-volt electric platform. Powering the Quintessenza are a sizable electric motor at the front axle and two additional in-wheel motors at the rear, collectively delivering a formidable 778 horsepower. With this robust powertrain, the concept boasts acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in under 3 seconds, while also touting an impressive estimated range of 750 km. However, given its conceptual nature, these figures remain unverified.
Despite featuring only two doors, the Quintessenza rivals the dimensions of a large four-door sedan, measuring 5,561 mm in length, 1,580 mm in height, and 2,200 mm in width, with a substantial wheelbase of 3,240 mm. This spacious layout allows for a generously proportioned cabin accommodating four occupants comfortably.
Externally, the Quintessenza presents a distinctive profile, characterized by its elevated stance and sleek two-door silhouette. Slim LED headlights adorn the front fascia, complemented by a central vertical LED element, while carbon fiber wheel arches add a touch of sportiness and house integrated driving lights.
Moving to the rear, the Quintessenza features an innovative design element—a removable rear hatch. This unique feature allows the second row of seats to rotate 180 degrees, providing ample legroom and enabling occupants to interact with their surroundings. While this feature may not be feasible for production, it underscores Italdesign's commitment to fostering connectivity with the environment.
The interior of the Quintessenza reflects a human-centric design philosophy, featuring a floating dashboard crafted from marble-based fabric, seamlessly integrating air conditioning and infotainment controls. Additionally, the concept boasts a futuristic yoke steering wheel, a digital instrument cluster, and a smartphone application empowering drivers to personalize the vehicle's settings and driving experience according to their preferences.
