ID Family Is Getting A New Member, The Electric SUV WV ID.8

Some days ago, Volkswagen opened the door of the strategies of this company. The announcement is confirmed later by the VAG’s Chairman of the Board of Management, Herbert Diess, via his Linkedin. The whole story is about the electric family of VW. It seems ID family is getting bigger.

This huge automaker these years invested much money on its electric vehicles, thanks to the pressure of the government for future zero-emission cars. And now more money is coming to be used for developing, producing, and selling electric vehicles. That’s the new strategy.

Herbert Diess, shared a 10 pages file, which is the definite confirmation of the new way. Volkswagen will have a new Atlas-sized battery-powered sports utility vehicle, which can be called ID.8. the used platform is based on the MEB, and that’s all information.

With the new electric SUV, ID family expands. ID.3 is a e modern-day, zero-emission Golf equivalent, then ID.4 is the translate of Tiguan, ID.6 is a model that’s the equivalent to the Passat in terms of dimensions as company says, and the most recent member, the ID.8 could be the biggest member of the family.

Although VW didn’t share any other information about this vehicle, but its maybe a global model. Diess, also claimed the ID Buzz is the next coming member to be a replacement for the Volkswagen Transporter. VW urge:

“the most comprehensive EV product portfolio in the industry yet.” The new products are part of the company’s aim to become the "EV leader by 2025."
