Hyundai has introduced a facelifted version of its popular Ioniq 5 electric crossover. This updated model will be the first vehicle produced at the automaker's new Metaplant in Georgia, making it eligible for a $3,750 federal tax credit. For those looking to maximize their savings, leasing an Ioniq 5 can qualify for the full $7,500 discount.
The 2025 Ioniq 5 features subtle exterior updates, including revised bumpers, a modified spoiler, and aerodynamically improved wheels. New color options such as Atlas White Matte, Ecotronic Gray Matte, and Celadon Gray Matte are also available. One of the most significant additions is the new XRT variant, which offers a more rugged appearance with unique fascias, black accents, and a distinctive "digital camo" pattern on the bumpers and fender flares. The XRT also boasts a slightly higher ground clearance, matte black 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, red tow hooks, and exclusive exterior colors like Ultimate Red and Cosmic Blue Pearl.
While the interior changes are relatively minor, they include a new steering wheel, an updated center console, and revised switchgear with physical buttons for frequently used functions. Standard equipment varies by trim level, but the XRT variant features unique H-Tex upholstery with XRT badging, a black headliner, and all-weather floor mats.
In addition to the XRT trim, the 2025 Ioniq 5 offers increased battery capacity options. The Standard Range variant now features a 63 kWh battery, up from 58 kWh, which should result in a range increase from 354 kilometers to over 386 kilometers. The Long Range variants have been upgraded from a 77.4 kWh battery to an 84 kWh battery, promising a range of over 499 kilometers for rear-wheel drive models and between 402 and 451 kilometers for all-wheel drive versions.
One notable feature of the 2025 Ioniq 5 is its compatibility with the North American Charging Standard (NACS) port. This means owners can utilize Tesla's Supercharger network without the need for an adapter. Additionally, CCS chargers can be used with the purchase of an adapter.
The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 is expected to arrive at U.S. dealerships in the fall, and more details about the model will likely be released closer to its launch.
