Hyundai has introduced a new off-road leader to its lineup with the unveiling of the 2026 Palisade XRT Pro. This new model, a more rugged and capable variant of Hyundai’s flagship SUV, made its debut at the New York motor show and has been confirmed for an Australian release. Although the second-generation Palisade, which will feature a hybrid-only range, is expected to reach Australian showrooms by the end of this year, the XRT Pro model will not be available until sometime in the first half of 2026.

2026 Palisade XRT Pro

The Palisade XRT Pro marks the first time Hyundai has introduced a model under the "XRT Pro" designation. Previously, Hyundai had released XRT versions of its vehicles, including an XRT option package for the Santa Fe available in Australia. In contrast to those earlier editions, the XRT Pro comes with major upgrades aimed specifically at enhancing its off-road performance. Key features include a unique rear electronic limited-slip differential, larger 255/60 all-terrain tires mounted on 18-inch wheels, and redesigned front and rear bumpers.

These modifications result in an increased ground clearance of 213mm – a 25mm improvement – even though Hyundai did not indicate any changes to the suspension in its official announcement. The redesigned bumpers also improve the vehicle’s approach, departure, and breakover angles, which now stand at 20.5 degrees, 22.4 degrees, and 18.3 degrees, respectively. The Palisade XRT Pro further enhances its off-road credibility with a surround-view monitor that now includes forward ground vision. Additionally, the system can display important real-time off-road metrics such as pitch, roll, elevation, and compass directions. Other practical off-road additions include exposed recovery hooks, a factory-fitted tow hitch, and new drive modes tailored for mud, sand, and snow conditions.

Visually, the XRT Pro distinguishes itself from the rest of the Palisade range through unique badging and darker exterior detailing. Inside, it continues to impress with a range of premium features such as heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a high-end 14-speaker Bose sound system, ambient interior lighting, and a sunroof.

Under the hood, at least for the U.S. market, the XRT Pro is powered by a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine, delivering an output of 214kW and 353Nm of torque. This engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that distributes power to all four wheels. Hyundai anticipates a braked towing capacity of 2250kg for this model in the U.S., although the final figure is still pending confirmation. As for the Australian version of the Palisade XRT Pro, Hyundai has yet to announce which engine will be used.
