GM Is Asking Corvette Owners About Electric Sports Car

Author: |

The Chevrolet Corvette fanatics are a devoted and pure lot. Even something as simple as replacing the headlights may spark a heated dispute. As a result, you can picture some existing C8 owners' reactions in GM's newest study.

Several owners have received a questionnaire about an electric vehicle, as well as choices and subscription services they would prefer, according to the Mid Engine Corvette Forum. The poll was conducted by GM, and the results have been mixed. Given the cult appeal of this sports vehicle, that last element may come as no surprise.

Owners' comments ranged from enthusiastic support for the future to others who wouldn't touch an electric vehicle with a ten-foot rod. While the latter is unsurprising, it's also intriguing to see Corvette owners considering a plug-in hybrid version of their favorite sports vehicle.

The only people who received these questionnaires were C8 owners, thus the sample size was unlikely to be large. In any case, the fact that GM is asking this question indicates that an electric Corvette is in the works.

We're only two years into the life cycle of the C8. Nonetheless, a hybrid is on the way. The E-Ray is believed to have a total system output of around 650 horsepower and might perhaps have all-wheel drive. If it is a success, it may make the notion of an all-electric Corvette more appealing to the car's die-hard admirers.

The C8 Corvette is currently in its early stages of development. That means there's still plenty of room for high-performance variants, as well as other one-of-a-kind and limited-edition models.
