Chinese automaker Geely has launched a refreshed version of its popular Boyue L compact SUV in their domestic market. This facelift model prioritizes improvements to the interior design and available configurations, offering a more modern and feature-rich driving experience.

While the exterior retains the familiar silhouette of the previous Boyue L, subtle design tweaks enhance its visual appeal. The signature LED lighting strips and bold front grille remain, but the roofline now features a stylish blacked-out treatment that slopes downwards towards the rear. Black accents continue on the wheel arches and side skirts, complemented by darkened exterior mirrors and traditional door handles. High-end trims boast a panoramic sunroof and the convenience of an electric tailgate.

Built on the CMA platform, the new Boyue L boasts a substantial size with a length of 4670 mm, a width of 1900 mm, and a height of 1705 mm. The generous 2777 mm wheelbase translates to ample passenger and cargo space. Potential buyers can choose from a range of wheel sizes, including 18-inch, 19-inch, and 20-inch options, each paired with appropriate tire specifications for a balance of comfort and handling.

Stepping inside the Boyue L reveals the most significant changes. The cabin features two new captivating color options – "Bibo Bay Blue" and "Moonlight Silver Sand White" – catering to a variety of preferences. A sporty D-shaped steering wheel with four spokes sits in front of the driver, complemented by a modern instrument cluster featuring a crisp 10.25-inch LCD display. The center stage, however, is occupied by a prominent 13.2-inch vertical touchscreen. This infotainment system is powered by Geely's Galaxy OS 2.0 and a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, promising a smooth and responsive user experience.

The center console has also been redesigned, featuring a new layout with a fresh panel and a modern gear lever. Notably, Geely has reintroduced physical buttons for essential functions like air conditioning control, providing a welcome tactile feedback for some drivers who might prefer a balance between physical and touch-based controls.

Tech features vary depending on the chosen trim level. The base model offers essential safety equipment like front airbags, rear parking radar, and automatic headlights. It also comes equipped with a leather steering wheel, imitation leather seats, and a decent 6-speaker sound system. Higher-end trims elevate the driving experience with additional features like an immersive 11-speaker audio system, mood-setting 72-color ambient lighting, heated and ventilated front seats, and the convenience of wireless mobile phone charging.

For the tech-savvy driver, top-of-the-line models boast a futuristic 25.6-inch AR-HUD (Augmented Reality Head-Up Display) that projects information directly onto the windshield, minimizing distractions. Additionally, advanced driver assistance systems like full-speed adaptive cruise control, autonomous parking assist, and remote parking assist further enhance safety and convenience.

Geely Boyue L engine

Geely offers the Boyue L with a choice of two turbocharged engines: a 1.5T or a 2.0T. Both engines are paired with a 7-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT) for smooth and efficient power delivery. The 1.5T engine produces 181 horsepower and 290 Nm of torque, while the more powerful 2.0T engine cranks out 218 horsepower and 325 Nm of torque. According to China's NEDC fuel consumption standard, the 1.5T achieves a combined fuel economy of 6.3 liters per 100 kilometers, while the 2.0T variant comes in slightly higher at 6.7 liters per 100 kilometers.

With its refreshed design, upgraded interior features, and a range of powertrain options, the new Geely Boyue L aims to maintain its position as a compelling choice in the competitive compact SUV segment within the Chinese market.
