Ford is continuing to broaden the appeal of its Mustang GTD lineup with the launch of a striking new variant known as the Liquid Carbon trim. As the name implies, this version highlights the raw beauty of exposed carbon fiber rather than covering it with conventional paint. Instead of a painted surface, the Liquid Carbon proudly displays its intricately woven carbon fiber body, which not only draws attention visually but also reinforces the model’s lightweight, performance-driven nature. The carbon weave runs prominently through the center of the car, while the fenders and side panels are carefully aligned with adjoining parts, ensuring a seamless and cohesive design from every angle. This level of craftsmanship gives the vehicle a distinct personality that sets it apart even within the exclusive GTD family.
While the carbon fiber exterior is the most eye-catching feature, Ford has also equipped the Liquid Carbon edition with a number of other upgrades. Among them are unique Brembo brake calipers that feature an anodized finish paired with a gloss black GTD script, emphasizing both style and functionality. Inside the cabin, the attention to detail continues with a mix of premium materials. Black leather is combined with Dinamica microfiber upholstery, providing both luxury and durability. Adding a splash of vibrancy, Ford has incorporated Hyper Lime contrast stitching throughout, while the seat centers boast a striking “reflective center gradient” pattern that enhances the interior’s sporty character. Complementing these touches are additional carbon fiber trim elements, a fully digital 12.4-inch instrument cluster, and a 13.2-inch infotainment display designed to keep drivers connected and informed.
The Liquid Carbon variant is not just about looks—it is also lighter and more performance-focused. Ford notes that the model is around 5.9 kilograms lighter than the already capable Carbon Series with the Performance package. This weight reduction is made possible by skipping the paint process and removing certain sheet metal elements from the doors, a decision that highlights Ford’s commitment to optimizing performance in every possible way. Although pricing details remain undisclosed, the company confirmed that the Performance package will come standard, and first deliveries are slated for October.
Beneath its sleek and futuristic surface, the Mustang GTD Liquid Carbon hides a beastly powertrain. It will be powered by a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine, delivering a remarkable 815 horsepower and 899 Nm of torque. Power is channeled through an advanced eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, enabling the car to achieve a breathtaking top speed of 325 km/h. According to Greg Goodall, chief program engineer for the Mustang GTD, the Liquid Carbon represents the pinnacle of Mustang GTD design and engineering. He described it as the “ultimate expression” of the model’s cutting-edge construction, adding that the exposed carbon fiber not only enhances performance but also ensures the car turns heads everywhere it goes.
