Dongfeng Forthing has recently unveiled its much-anticipated Xinghai S7 all-electric sedan in China. Built on Dongfeng's S2-E platform, the Xinghai S7 boasts an impressive drag coefficient of 0.195Cd. Its design, while not overly extravagant, positions it well among its competitors such as the Tesla Model 3, Xiaomi SU7, and BYD Seal. Notable features include a sleek fastback design, frameless doors, concealed door handles, and stylish multi-spoke rims. Classified as a mid-to-large sedan, the dimensions of the car measure 4935/1915/1495 mm, with a wheelbase stretching to 2915 mm.

At the front, a closed grille signifies its electric identity, complemented by distinctive "7"-shaped headlights. The rear lights are of the through-type, with a luminous LOGO positioned at the center, enhancing its visibility and brand recognition.

Under the hood, power is delivered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor model TZ200XS3F0, generating a maximum power output of 217 hp and peak torque of 310 Nm. This is coupled with a 56 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack, affording the Xinghai S7 an impressive CLTC range of 550 km. With a top speed of 165 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h achieved in just 6.67 seconds, it promises a thrilling driving experience. Additionally, fast charging capability enables the battery to be replenished from 30% to 80% in approximately 27.6 minutes.

Inside, the Xinghai S7 is equipped with a D-shaped steering wheel, a sleek floating central control screen, and an informative instrument panel. The center console is intelligently designed with hollowed-out sections to provide extra storage space underneath, while also supporting wireless charging for mobile devices.

Despite its promising features, Dongfeng Forthing has faced challenges in recent years, with declining sales figures since its peak performance in 2016 when it sold 260,000 vehicles. In 2022, the company recorded sales of only 122,300 vehicles, further dropping to 51,479 vehicles in 2023. However, the launch of the Xinghai S7 signifies Dongfeng Forthing's determination to revitalize its brand and regain its foothold in the automotive market. With its blend of performance, style, and sustainability, the Xinghai S7 aims to carve out a significant market share and reinvigorate Dongfeng Forthing's presence in the industry.
