Buick will launch a new electric crossover in china. The new model is known as Buick Velite 7 and will be produced along with Velite 5, Velite 6, and Velite 6 Plus in China. Although the new SUV is considered only for the Chinese market, it is likely to see its Chevrolet variant in U.S market in the future.
Buick Velite 7 is compact electric SUV with 174 hp eclectic motor. It is believed that the North American version will have more than 200 hp. Energy is provided by a newly designed modular lithium-ion battery with liquid-cooling technology. Buick claims a range of 500 km under the NEDC test cycle. While the 500 km range seems extremely optimistic, some expect the real-world range of 320 km which is still practical.
Velite 7 crossover has a 4.26 m long and its wheelbase is 2.67 m. Buick will produce Velite 7 in cooperation with SAIC-GM.
