The gorgeous BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe entered the US market this year. It was offered with two types of engines and has the all-wheel drive capability as a standard feature. On the other hand, the European market got it with either front-wheel or all-wheel drive. They also had the both gas engines as options to choose from, plus a diesel one.
Not to make the US buyers more envious, the German company has decided to expand its 2 Series GC lineup in America for the new year and will include a base front-wheel-drive option.
According to the company and its website, the base model which is BMW 228i sDrive, is equipped with the same turbocharged 2.0-liter four as the xDrive model. The powertrain generated 228 horsepower. The version with the front-wheel-drive hits the 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds. The number in the all-wheel drive version is 6 seconds. The BMW M235i xDrive version is the strongest of all since it can produce 301 horsepower and reach 100 km/h in only 4.5 seconds.
The BMW 228i Gran Coupe’s price, which is the cheapest model and comes with the front-wheel drive capability, starts at $35,700. The all-wheel drive BMW 228i xDrive version is a little bit more expensive and costs $37,700. If you want the most powerful one, meaning the BMW M235i xDrive model, you must pay $45,500.
Customers who are willing to pay another extra $3,950, can get the M sport package on the base model (BMW 228i sDrive). The M Sport with Dynamic Handling package costs $4,950. The no-cost paint options are called Alpine White and Jet Black. There are three other colors which cost $550 and a unique one, named Storm Bay Metallic, which costs $1,200.
