All About Dongfeng ix5 A Chinese Coupe Crossover

Dongfeng Motor recently launched ix5 in the Chinese market and it will soon enter the some other markets in the world as well. The ix5 is a coupe crossover that has the same size as the BMW X4.

In recent years, Chinese automakers made lots of changes and improvements in their designs and the new Dongfeng ix5 is not an exception. Actually, the coupe crossover has a very modern design that can be compared with European rivals.

Design

With LED daytime light running lights and a big grill with a distinct design, ix5 looks very aggressive and a sport. At the rear, Dongfeng designers decided to use a light bar and quad tailpipes while the rear design is not like a sport and aggressive as the front but is still better than many Chinese crossovers.

In terms of size, Dongfeng ix5 measures 4,685 mm long, 1865 mm wide, and 1645 mm tall. Its wheelbase is also 2,790 mm.

Inside the cabin, the design is inspired by Audi and Volkswagen cars. The main features are a big touch screen on the dash and the D-Cut steering wheel. The Dongfeng ix5 also benefits a fully digital instrument cluster.

Features

Other highlights are six airbags, traffic sign recognition system, Lane departure alert, blind-spot monitor, 360° camera, electronic stability control, cruise control, Hill-start assist, downhill assist, rain sensor, ambient lighting, alloy wheels, power tailgate, automatic air conditioning, power sunroof, electronic parking brake, keyless entry and start, power front seat, leather interior, and heated front seats.

Specifications

Under the hood, buyers can choose between a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and a naturally aspirated 1.8-liter engine. The 1.8-liter unit pumps out 139 hp and 187 nm of torque transferred to the wheels with the five-speed manual transmission or automatic CVT transmission.

On the other side, the 1.5-liter unit can produce 150 hp and 220 nm of torque. The turbo model comes standard with an automatic CVT transmission. It also covers the Euro 5 emission standard and consumes only 7.5 L/100 km.

Photos of this attractive CUV are superb. The starburst grille is a nice refresh from the previous horizontal bar grille.
