The Aito M7 Max gets a refresh, with pre-sales kicking off in China in May. This revamped version boasts upgrades to its exterior, interior, and technology, offering a potentially more attractive package for eco-conscious drivers.
Available in four models, the refreshed Aito M7 Max comes in both five-seater ($41,200 & $44,000) and six-seater ($44,000 & $46,800) configurations. Powertrain details remain largely under wraps, but it's expected to retain the current model's Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) system. This system combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged range extender engine with Huawei-made electric motors. Two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive options are likely to be carried over as well. While specific details about motor power haven't been confirmed, the current model offers 268 hp on the rear motor for the two-wheel drive variant, with an additional 176 hp front motor for the four-wheel drive version. We can expect more precise information on these aspects closer to the official launch date on May 31st.
Aito's Managing Director, Yu Chengdong, highlighted upgrades to the interior, exterior, and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). The most notable exterior change is the switch to a closed front design with a smaller grille compared to the current model. This grille features an illuminated brand logo, adding a touch of futuristic flair. The color palette expands to five options with the addition of a new "Interstellar Blue" alongside existing options like silver, gray, azure blue, and black. New wheel choices include 20-inch double seven-spoke and 21-inch double ten-spoke rims, further enhancing customization options. The vehicle's dimensions remain largely the same at 5020mm long, 1945mm wide, and 1760mm tall, with a 2820mm wheelbase.
The minimalist interior design philosophy continues with the refreshed Aito M7 Max. This translates to a focus on a clean layout with minimal physical buttons. A new orange color option joins the existing interior color choices, offering a bolder personality for those who want a more vibrant driving environment. Functional upgrades include a new two-spoke steering wheel, a 10.25-inch instrument panel, and a large 15.6-inch floating central control screen. Additionally, the refreshed M7 Max inherits the same Schroeder acoustic diffuser technology from its larger sibling, the Aito M9, potentially enhancing the in-cabin listening experience.
With its pre-sales underway and the official launch just around the corner, the refreshed Aito M7 Max is poised to offer a compelling combination of technology, design enhancements, and a potentially refined driving experience for those seeking an eco-friendly SUV.
