The 2025 Genesis G80 sedan has undergone a significant refresh, marking the most substantial update since the second generation was launched in Australia in 2020. The updated model, available for purchase from August 2024, brings a refined lineup that now consists of only two variants.
The first is the rear-wheel-drive Genesis G80 2.5T, powered by a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine. The second is the all-wheel-drive Genesis G80 3.5T AWD, which boasts a 3.5-liter twin-turbo petrol V6 engine. These versions are distinct from the 2025 Genesis G80 Electrified sedan, which continues separately. Additionally, a sport-oriented G80 variant under the Magma sub-brand is anticipated to be introduced to the Australian market in the future.
The updated G80 lineup has seen a noticeable price increase compared to its predecessors. The Genesis G80 2.5T now starts at $104,000 plus on-road costs, a significant jump from the previous entry price of $84,584. Similarly, the G80 3.5T AWD is now priced at $121,000, up from the earlier $113,584. Despite these price hikes, the engines remain unchanged. The G80 2.5T continues to deliver 224kW of power and 422Nm of torque through an eight-speed automatic transmission with rev-matching capabilities. The G80 3.5T AWD retains its 279kW and 530Nm output.
One of the key factors contributing to the higher pricing is the inclusion of the Luxury Package as a standard feature on both models. Previously, this package was an optional $14,000 upgrade for the G80 2.5T and was included as standard on the G80 3.5T from the 2023 model year onward. The Luxury Package enhances the G80’s interior and technology offerings, featuring three-zone climate control, nappa leather upholstery, 18-way Ergo Motion front seats, heated and ventilated rear seats, a rear center armrest console, dual 9.2-inch rear entertainment screens, and Remote Smart Park Assist. Additionally, an 18-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system, which was not part of the earlier package, is now standard across all models.
Another notable enhancement is the integration of Genesis Connected Car Services, first introduced in Australia with the 2023 Genesis GV60. This system offers a suite of advanced features, including automatic collision notification, an SOS emergency call function, Valet mode, voice control for windows, and the capability to receive over-the-air (OTA) updates for both software and firmware. This means that many updates can be conducted remotely, eliminating the need for a visit to a Genesis dealership.
The 2025 Genesis G80 also features an updated exterior design, highlighted by a new grille flanked by Micro-Lens Array Intelligent Front Light LED headlights. In terms of safety and driving assistance technologies, the 2025 model adds Forward-Collision Assist 2, which detects cars, pedestrians, and cyclists, as well as Lane-Following Assist with hands-on detection, and sat-nav-based Smart Cruise Control.
Additional design updates include silver-finish brake calipers with ‘Genesis’ lettering, a newly designed rear bumper for a more athletic appearance, hidden exhaust outlets, and V-shaped chrome details that echo the front Crest Grille. Matte exterior paint is available as a $2000 option for both models. The G80 3.5T AWD can also be customized with a $6000 Sport package and a $4500 Rear Seat Entertainment package. The Sport package introduces exclusive colors such as Vatna Grey, Kawah Blue, and Brooklyn Blue, along with its own 20-inch wheel design and Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tires.
The Sport package also brings more aggressive exterior styling, including a unique front bumper and grille, a distinctive rear bumper with dual chrome exhaust outlets, and additional features like rear-wheel steering, an electronic limited-slip differential, and selectable brake modes. Inside, the Sport package adds a flat-bottomed ‘D-Cut’ steering wheel, a high-performance instrument cluster, nappa leather upholstery, genuine carbon-fiber accents, and diamond-finish pedals.
For all 2025 G80 models, standard interior features include a new three-spoke steering wheel, a 27-inch OLED display, a touch-type air-conditioning switch panel, and a redesigned center console with a wireless smartphone charging pad and rotary dial. Other interior upgrades include a memory function for the passenger front seat, a heated center console armrest, and an Active Road-Noise Cancelling system.
The 2025 Genesis G80 sedan is now available in Australian showrooms, offering a blend of luxury, advanced technology, and refined design.
