The 2022 Toyota 4Runner TRD Sport is a comfort-focused variant of the 4Runner SUV that joins the lineup. The TRD Sport is based on the 4Runner SR5 and has larger 20-inch machine-finished wheels, a TRD-style hood scoop, black roof rails, and a variety of body color components such as the grille, rocker panels, and dark gray highlights.
The SR5's textile interior is replaced by SofTex seats with gray contrast stitching and embroidered TRD emblems on the headrests, continuing the upmarket design. Other interior elements include heated front seats, a TRD-branded gearshift, and TRD Sport floor mats.
The engine is a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter V6 that delivers 270 hp and 377 Nm of torque. It is mated to a five-speed automatic transmission and may be combined with an optional four-wheel-drive system.
Other notable features include a telescopic steering wheel, an 8-inch touchscreen system, Amazon Alexa, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, automatic high beam headlights, high-speed dynamic radar cruise control, pedestrian recognition, and lane departure alert with sway warning.
The Toyota 4Runner TRD Sport prioritizes comfort, therefore it has a cross-linked relative absorber system. To improve handling and ride comfort, this technology automatically changes the damping force of the shock absorbers. The same technology is also available in the 4Runner Limited.
Toyota did not provide price information, but the 2022 4Runner TRD Sport will be available this autumn.
