The all-new 2021 Acura TLS is a sport sedan which has earned the highest safety rating (TOP SAFETY PICK+/TSP+) from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. This is the highest safety rating the IIHS has to offer.
The new model was able to get “Good” in all the crash tests, “Superior” for CMBS (Collision Mitigation Braking System) with Pedestrian Detection, which is a part pf the standard AcuraWatch safety technology and last but not least, to earn “Good” for the headlights. Acura RDX which is compact SUV, could earn the same award from the IIHS as well.
The brand has opted for the “Safety Through Innovation” approach and is using some advanced and enhanced technology to develop its products. The 2021 Acura LTX model showcases the brand’s newest series of Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure, new steel door stiffener rings and eight airbags, which is something new for Acura. The airbags include new driver and front passenger knee airbags. Every single new TLX will get AcuraWatch which include Collision Mitigation Braking System with Pedestrian Detection, Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow, Forward Collision Warning, Road Departure Mitigation incorporating Lane Departure Warning, and Lane Keeping Assist System as its standard features. Acura has also presented JewelEye, which are its LED headlights. They had an important role in the 2021 Acura TLX to get the highest ratings possible.
The innovation and technology Acura offers were within “Best of What’s New” for 2020 by Popular Science. Later on, the brand could win the “Grand Award” thanks to its enhanced technologies. In airbag design, the company could reach new levels of technology in recognizing problems related to sever brain trauma associated with angled frontal collisions. The new safety feature based on this ground breaking technology will be offered as standard feature on all-new 2022 Acura MDX 3-row luxury SUV.
