Wuling has taken a step up in the Chinese automotive market with the launch of a new brand called Aishang, designed specifically to appeal to younger buyers. The debut model under this new brand is an electric hatchback named the A100C, with mass production already underway in China and the official market launch scheduled for October 2025. The Chinese car market has faced intense competition in recent years, and industry experts frequently predict that many local automakers will struggle or even disappear. Indeed, some brands have fallen victim to such forecasts, with Neta being the latest example. Yet despite these challenges, many manufacturers continue to fight for a foothold, and new brands continue to emerge—Aishang being the most recent addition to this dynamic market.
Wuling, a well-known Chinese automaker, operates under the Guangxi Automotive Group umbrella and is widely recognized for its joint venture with GM and SAIC, known as SGMW. Beyond its joint ventures, Wuling also manages standalone projects, and the Aishang brand represents one of its newest and most ambitious ventures. Production of the Aishang A100C began in late September 2025, signaling the company’s intent to establish a presence in the low-cost electric vehicle segment. While large crossovers dominate current market trends, Wuling is leveraging its extensive experience in producing small, affordable vehicles priced under $14,000 to target younger urban consumers.
According to Wuling Deputy General Manager Wang Zhiqiang, domestic demand for compact cars grew 63% year-on-year during the first half of 2025, with over 425,000 units sold within six months. Wang sees this as a strategic opportunity for Wuling to enter the low-cost passenger car segment with a fresh product offering. He emphasized that modern vehicles need to be appealing, user-friendly, and socially engaging. Confident in the launch, Wuling is positioning the Aishang A100C to compete with other popular small EVs in China, including the Chery QQ Ice Cream and the Changan Lumin.
The Aishang A100C is a compact, two-door, four-seat electric car with a playful, “cute” design typical for this market segment. It features blacked-out pillars, aerodynamic wheel covers, a front bumper air intake, and uniquely styled headlights that give the car a slightly frowning expression. Additional design elements include traditional door handles and a front-right fender charging port cover.
In terms of size, the A100C measures 3285 mm long, 1708 mm wide, and 1550 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 1,980 mm. This makes it slightly larger than the 2025 Wuling Mini EV, being 29 mm longer, 130 mm wider, and 28 mm lower. Power comes from a single rear-mounted electric motor producing 51 hp and 83 Nm of torque, paired with a 17.65 kWh LFP battery supplied by Gotion. Under CLTC testing conditions, the A100C offers an estimated electric range of 220 km, making it a practical and affordable option for city commuters and young drivers in China.
