SEMA Spotlight: Maverick Gets 300 HP Upgrade

Author: |

Ford reintroduced the idea of a sporty, street-focused pickup a little over a year ago when it unveiled the Maverick Lobo. Now, the company is building on that momentum. At this year’s SEMA Show, Ford is showcasing a more aggressive vision of its smallest truck, outfitting the Maverick with a full suite of Ford Performance Parts. Unlike many SEMA concepts that exist purely as showpieces, this one previews a real upgrade package scheduled to reach customers next year. The parts are compatible with all-wheel-drive versions of the XL, XLT, and Lariat trims, giving buyers across the lineup a way to dial up performance and style.

The model on display is called the Maverick 300T, and its upgrades center around the truck’s 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine. Instead of the stock turbocharger, Ford has fitted the larger turbo from the 2.3-liter EcoBoost found in the Mustang. To support the increased airflow and boost levels, the truck also gets a Mishimoto intercooler and updated engine calibration through Ford’s ProCal 4 tuning system. Together, these changes increase output by roughly 50 horsepower and 40 pound-feet of torque, resulting in estimated totals of about 300 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque.

Ford emphasizes that the turbo upgrade is legal in all 50 U.S. states, an important distinction for enthusiasts who want more power without regulatory headaches. The package also comes backed by a three-year Ford Performance Parts warranty, as long as a certified technician or Ford dealership installs the hardware. But the enhancements do not stop with the powertrain.

Borrowing from the Maverick Lobo, the 300T benefits from upgraded suspension components, including thicker stabilizer bars, stiffer bushings, revised dampers, and a lowering kit. The stance is further sharpened by a set of bold 20-inch bronze-finished wheels sourced from the Mustang Mach-E GT. Additional visual upgrades include an Air Design front spoiler, decorative fender vents, and a Borla sport exhaust system capped with black chrome tips. Inside and outside, Ford Performance branding is visible, and the truck wears distinctive 300T graphics on the doors and hood. Even the Maverick lettering on the tailgate is finished in bronze to match the wheels.

The SEMA show truck rides on Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, although Ford suggests that Pirelli P Zero Elect tires would be the preferred choice for customers. The lowering springs drop the truck’s ride height by approximately 10 millimeters in front and 30 millimeters in the rear, improving the street-ready stance.

For now, Ford calls the Maverick 300T a “project vehicle,” but the company confirms a production-ready version of the upgrade kit will arrive next year. Until then, visitors to SEMA in Las Vegas can see the enhanced Maverick on display through Friday, November 7.
