BMW revealed updates to the i4 range earlier this year, and the company has now released full specifications for the United States market. The changes are noteworthy, particularly in the areas of performance and driving range, giving shoppers more capability and value compared to previous model years. Along with those enhancements, BMW has also made several smaller equipment adjustments to improve convenience and customization.
Across the board, every 2026 i4 now comes standard with a Seal & Drive Tire Kit, which replaces the need for a spare tire in the event of a puncture. Additionally, the Drive Recorder feature has been added to the Parking Assistant Professional suite, allowing drivers to capture video footage around the vehicle if needed. Another subtle but visually appealing change is the availability of optional glass interior controls for all versions of the i4, giving buyers the ability to upgrade the cabin with a more premium aesthetic.
While BMW has not made major styling revisions to the exterior, there are still some minor visual updates worth noting. The Shadowline package, which emphasizes darker trim elements for a sportier look, now includes black side mirror caps and blue-caliper M Sport brakes on the i4 eDrive40 and i4 xDrive40. For customers who prefer to pick and choose their upgrades, these components can also be ordered as individual options.
The entry point to the lineup, the i4 eDrive40, receives meaningful mechanical improvements. It now features more efficient silicon carbide (SiC) power inverters adapted from the larger i5. This upgrade allows the eDrive40 to deliver more driving range on a full charge. With the standard 18-inch wheels, the model is estimated to travel up to 536 kilometers, an increase of about 24 km compared to the previous version. Even when equipped with the larger 19-inch wheels, range remains improved at 494 km, which still beats last year’s figure by approximately 19 km.
More exciting performance news comes with the replacement of the previous i4 M50 by the i4 M60, which now becomes the top model in the lineup. The i4 M60 also benefits from the SiC inverter upgrade, but the headline story is power. At startup, the car delivers 510 horsepower, representing an increase of 41 hp. Selecting My Modes Sport unlocks an even higher temporary output of 593 hp, a jump of 57 hp compared to before. This power allows the i4 M60 to accelerate from 0 to 96 km/h in just 3.6 seconds, making it nearly as quick as the M3 Competition xDrive and measurably faster than the standard M3.
Despite the power boost, the i4 M60 is also more efficient. When fitted with 19-inch wheels, range reaches approximately 447 km, while models equipped with 20-inch wheels can achieve around 373 km. Both figures represent gains over the previous model year.
Production of the 2026 i4 range begins in November. Pricing will start at $57,900 for the i4 eDrive40, $62,300 for the i4 xDrive40, and $70,700 for the high-performance i4 M60.
