Mercedes is marking AMG's 55th anniversary in 2022 by releasing "Edition 55" special editions for a variety of cars. Mercedes-AMG offered the special A45 S / CLA 45 S "Edition 55" for Australia, following the launch of the G 63 and the A35 / CLA 35 in Europe.
The AMG Night Package II is standard on the "Edition 55," which includes a high-gloss black grille, intakes, splitter, side sill inserts, mirror caps, and window line trim, as well as the emblems.
The AMG Aerodynamics package, which features a large splitter, canards, a rear wing, and a diffuser blade, gives the bodykit a more aggressive look.
The black chrome finish on the quad exhaust pipes and the dark tinted glass complement the dark theme. Standard 19-inch AMG cross-spoke forged wheels in titanium gray with a distinctive center cap with "Edition 55" accents around the Mercedes star, among other features.
For the special versions, a black and red theme has been chosen for the interior, with dark brushed aluminum trim. The standard AMG Performance seats are red and black leather, with a "Edition 55" insignia on the flat-bottom steering wheel. A black AMG Indoor Car Cover with a silver AMG emblem will be given to owners of the special models.
The turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine in the CLA 45 S and A45 S produces 415 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. An eight-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and the 4MATIC+ technology send power to all four wheels.
The A45 S takes 3.9 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h, whereas the CLA 45 S takes 4.0 seconds. Both have a top speed of 270 km/h, which is electronically regulated.
The models can be purchased with decals on the profile and either Cosmos black metallic or Digital white metallic exterior paint.
The vehicles will arrive in Australian dealerships in late 2022, with price to be revealed closer to the launch.
