Ferrari Introduces the 812 Competizione. The 812 Competizione, which is joined by a targa-top Aperta edition, is a crazier and more powerful Superfast that could be Ferrari's last front-engined V12 supercar.

The 812 Competizione is powered by a naturally aspirated 6.5-liter V12 engine that produces 830 horsepower and 692 Newton-meters of torque. It has 30 hp more than the Superfast, but torque has decreased by 26 Nm. The full horsepower is available at 9,250 rpm, but the twelve-cylinder engine can be revved up to 9,500 rpm, making it the highest-revving Ferrari road car ever. It is, in fact, the most powerful version of the F140 to date, at least when it comes to road-legal Ferraris.

The 812 Competizione weighs 1,487 kilograms when you add fluids and is equipped with optional features to reduce weight as much as possible. The coupe reaches 100 km/h in 2.85 seconds and completes the 0-200 km/h sprint in 7.5 seconds, despite possessing so much strength and carrying so little weight for a V12 vehicle. It has a top speed of more than 340 km/h.

The top speed hasn't improved from the 812 Superfast, and the sprint to 62 mph is almost identical (the previous iteration needed 2.9 seconds), but the true advantage is in the run to 124 mph. It now takes 0.4 seconds less after lowering the weight-to-power ratio from 1.9 kg/hp to 1.79 kg/hp.

A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission has been recalibrated for the current application, resulting in a 5% reduction in change times. The gear ratios have been brought over from the regular Superfast, but Ferrari says they are now sportier as a result of the legendary V12 being tweaked to a top engine speed of 9,500 rpm.

The configuration of the Competizione is noticeably more offensive, owing to the aero modifications implemented by Ferrari up front. Although the vents flanking the headlamps have vanished, the intakes flanking the mesh grille have grown significantly in size. The front fender has winglets on both sides and a race-spec splitter in the middle.

In the rear, the redesigned diffuser now spans the entire width of the vehicle, and the spoiler is noticeably larger. Larger intakes flank the fascia, and the twin-exhaust configuration has been abandoned in favor of rectangular pipes positioned at the corners. According to Ferrari, the current rear end is inspired by the classic 330 P3/P4. I don't see it, but it looks interesting nonetheless.

The Competizione flexes a louvered rear window that also functions as a vortex generator, much like a proper track-spec vehicle. Save for lighter door panels and a redesigned center console, there are no significant updates inside the cabin to discuss.

For the time being, Ferrari is not disclosing pricing information, and we will also have to wait to hear how many coupes and convertibles will be made, but predict an incredibly high price and limited production figures.
