Jeff Koons is back with BMW, and this time it's for another art car, a follow-up to Koons' BMW M3 GT2, which had its global premiere 11 years ago.

Koons is currently working on a unique version of the 8 Series Gran Coupe, especially an M850i xDrive Gran Coupe. BMW's Art Car collection, which goes back to 1975, will be expanded with the new 8 Series.

These images depict the first set of teasers for the upcoming BMW Art Car, as revealed by Jeff Koons and Oliver Zipse, BMW AG's Chairman of the Board of Management.

Jeff Koons is recognized for his pop culture work, which is loaded with bright colors and aggressive lines, similar to the M3 GT2 from 2010.

According to the press announcement, The 8 x Jeff Koons will have a multi-layer paint that will take 285 hours to apply to the automobile. On the interior, there will be a slew of hues, as well as high-end materials, exquisite leather, and a cupholder lid with edition badging and Koons' engraved signature.

Also Koons mentioned:

"I am really thrilled and honored about the opportunity to work with BMW again and to create a special edition car. I was thinking very intensely about it: What is the essence of the 8 Series Gran Coupe? What is the essence of power? How to create something that exemplifies all the energy of the BMW 8 Series that is also able to touch upon the human element? Again, it’s just a wonderful opportunity to be working as part of the BMW family again,"

The next BMW Art Car will be unveiled at Frieze Los Angeles in February 2022 and will be available for purchase in a limited collector's edition following the premiere
