BMW was the best-selling luxury automobile brand in the United States at the end of 2021. BMW sold 336,644 automobiles in the United States from January to December of last year. This was a 21% increase over the disappointing sales in 2020, and in line with sales in 2019.
Mercedes-Benz, one of BMW's most traditional rivals, delivered 276,102 vehicles last year, a little 0.4% rise over the previous year after being struck particularly hard by the semiconductor shortage.

In the United States, Audi delivered 196,038 vehicles in 2021.
BMW has surpassed Mercedes-Benz as the world's best-selling luxury brand for the first time in five years. During the year, BMW sold a record 2.2 million automobiles, while Mercedes saw a 5% drop in sales to 2.05 million.
