Facelifted Alpina XD3 and XD4 With Quad-Turbodiesel Engines Officially Unveiled. The new XD3 and XD4 models as diesel-powered replacements for the X3 M and X4 M.

The new BMW Alpina vehicles have the same aesthetic updates as the standard X3 and X4 SUVs. We can start with bigger kidneys, updated LED headlights and taillights, and updated bumpers, albeit the latter are only available on Alpina variants.

The new Alpina XD3 and XD4 are powered by an improved version of BMW's quad-turbo 3.0-liter straight-six engine, which produces 389 horsepower and 800 Newton-meters of torque.

The powerful diesel engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and a retuned xDrive all-wheel-drive system.

Alpina boasts that the new XD3 and XD4 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds, with a peak speed of 267 km/h for the XD3 and 268 km/h for the slicker XD4.

Alpina has also changed the calibration of the variable sports steering and the launch control system for the optimum departure from a stoplight.

To ensure superb longitudinal and lateral dynamics, both new Alpina models use adaptive dampers with model-specific settings and shorter, stronger springs. The business will also offer a set of composite brakes as an option, as well as a set of 22-inch alloy wheels with the characteristic Alpina design. The new Alpina XD3 and XD4 come standard with 20-inch wheels.

The 2019 BMW Alpina XD3 starts at $104,500 in its home market of Germany, while the XD4 starts at $108,400. The first delivery will take place in November.
