Lamborghini Urus SE Revealed With Significant Power Increase

Lamborghini has taken a significant leap forward by integrating PHEV technology into a key model within its lineup, addressing a longstanding need for electrification. The updates extend to both exterior and interior aspects of the vehicle, with a focus on enhancing performance, aesthetics, and technological features.

Externally, the design refinements are evident. A notable alteration is the extension of the hood, now seamlessly connected to the revised grille, imparting a sense of dynamism. The incorporation of new LED lights and a redesigned rear hatch, featuring a distinctive black transverse section linking the taillights, further aligns the model with Lamborghini's contemporary supercars. Complementing these changes are the introduction of Galanthus wheels, measuring an impressive 23 inches in diameter and adorned with Pirelli's latest P Zero tires.

The interior enhancements are equally striking. The cockpit boasts a larger 12.3-inch infotainment screen, providing a more immersive user experience. The air vents have been redesigned to inject a sense of style, while updates to seat coverings and dashboard materials contribute to an overall sense of luxury. Notably, Lamborghini has reengineered the console materials to enhance tactile feedback, imparting a mechanical feel to the switches.

Under the hood, the Urus SE combines a potent 612 hp twin-turbo V8 combustion engine with a supplementary 189 hp electric motor integrated into the eight-speed transmission. This hybrid configuration yields an impressive total output of 789 hp, positioning the SE as the most powerful variant in the Urus lineup. Acceleration figures are equally impressive, with the SUV capable of reaching 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds, surpassing its predecessors in speed.

Despite its performance prowess, the Urus SE also prioritizes environmental responsibility. Equipped with a 25.9 kWh battery, it offers a claimed electric range of 37 miles, underscoring Lamborghini's commitment to sustainability. This feature enhances the model's appeal, particularly in regions where incentives are provided for zero-emission vehicles.

Furthermore, the Urus SE introduces innovative technology aimed at enhancing driving dynamics. A new electro-hydraulic multi-plate clutch enables variable torque distribution between the front and rear axles, facilitating agile handling. Combined with a virtual LSD (Limited Slip Differential) at the rear, this system allows for precise control oversteer, enhancing the driving experience.

Despite the addition of hybrid components, Lamborghini has managed to maintain impressive performance figures. According to Rouven Mohr, Lamborghini's CTO, the Urus SE matches the track performance of its lighter, non-hybrid counterpart, demonstrating the efficacy of its engineering.

Looking ahead, Lamborghini's foray into electrification is set to expand further. Following the Urus SE, the company plans to introduce plug-in technology to its upcoming Huracan successor. Additionally, by 2028, Lamborghini will debut its first-ever electric vehicle, the Lanzador crossover, expanding its product portfolio to meet evolving market demands. Subsequent iterations of the Urus are also slated to offer fully electric drivetrains, reflecting the brand's commitment to innovation and sustainability.
